Kojima habla de que MGS4 está en proceso en esta entrevista:
Playmag:after we've seen the trailer and played the demo, MGS3 seems really unbelievable, where are you in development?(directed to Kojima San)
Kojima: We're done with the jungle's elements, we only have to put the story into the game. In brief we only have to put our ideas in place.
PM:what did you like the most in the developement?
HK: The survival trip we've done with Mr Mori (military advisor)in which we had to survive.
PM: the game's theme is to live [mmm I think they meant survive] do you have more details on that?
HK:the game's main idea is to put the player in the jungle, to make them feel like in a jungle,we're hungry, we're sick, we're tired...That's a live experience, a survival experience. the demo is about 1 hour and a half, at the end Snake must be really hungry....like every player who play the game, identification to snake is then bigger.
PM: why changing a winning formula(all the survival elements and lacks of technology to help snake in his mission)
HK:It is too simple to copy the old system and modify only the story around the main game (cough!pandora tomorowcough!) there is nothing fun in doing so...we innovate. Even if it is a sequel, the gameplay is changed and some other small things too...
PM: you mean like the CQC that take the place of the former punch, punch, kick?
HK: no, both fighting system are in and it is the player's choice to use one or the other according to the game situations.(tsss this game makes me crazy
PM: why coming back to past? and not continue after MGS2?
HK: MGS= tactical espionage action game, a "spy" game, so I wanted the character to be like a secret agent, like James Bond. Today tactical teams like SWAT or SEALs do all the work, so I obviously had to go in the past and the cold war era was perfect for a "spy" game. USA and USSR sent many spy in each other's country. An other reason is that the more we go in the future to more the technology had to be there, I wanted to change that for that game, I wanted snake to rely less on technology and use his body as a weapon and not to use too many gadgets.
PM: Do you have more details on the trailer (E3 2004)? The Colonel, the two ladies?
HK: No, the game will come out in a couple of months, it's to early to reveal anything.... But a bad guy who looks like a bad guy...IS a bad guy
PM:You say you do not want too much technology but why are there flying modules?
HK: USA and USSR really tryed to develop those kind of things in the 60's.
PM: for the environment design? Still Lego?
HK: No, too much work, we created a new tool.... the legos are used by the Boktai team now...(lol)
PM:You kinda infered that MGS3 would be your last MGS project? Is that true?
HK: Well, there WILL be a MGS4 but I will not really direct it, no more design, no more script... Around that time I'll do something really different
