Blu-ray has now been rejected by Universal Studios, one of the world's largest movie companies. Craig Kornblau. president of Universal Studios explains why they moved to only using HD-DVD and why HD-DVD will win overall in this high definition race.
"Look at the blogs, look at the reviews by the early adopters and even look at the mainstream media – HD DVD has maintained its first-to-market advantage and delivered on the promises of providing the best high definition image and sound quality at the best value for consumers today," Kornblau explained.
Now we know that your average HD DVD player goes for $400-$500 and can utilize an HDMI cable for 1080p HD. The only thing that Blu-ray has over HD-DVD is the storage size of its discs and the durability they have. Although, once Sony launches it PS3 you'll be able to play Blu-ray at the cost of $499-$599 and play games at the same time. But until Blu-ray goes more mainstream, I guess only time will tell.
