I have often wondered how the Zo'e live in such amazing harmony! Sydney claims that the answer to that question lies in their unique family structure. There is no limit to the number of husbands or wives a Zo'e can have, yet no one becomes jealous. Brothers may even share the same wife. However, if a man wants to marry another man's wife, he must get permission first. It's all quite confusing. Yet could it be that relaxed family structure is the reason why Zo'e society has managed to survive for so long without laws or leaders?

The Zo'e live happily with neither gods nor religion. Things might have stayed the same way forever, but a few years ago the goverment decided that it had to save these poor people. They sent goverment agents to the village to see what could be done. Althought they meant well, these people did more harm than good by introducing alien concepts like religion and authority- as well as the flu, a previously unknown illness that killed 40 of the villagers.
Was it right to interfere? In my opinion, the goverment should have allowed these gentle people to live their lives as they have always done, without the help of "civilised" society.

No hay límite al número de maridos o las esposas que un Zo'e puede tener, con todo nadie llega a ser celoso. Los hermanos pueden incluso compartir a la misma esposa. Sin embargo, si un hombre desea casar a la esposa de otro hombre, él debe conseguir el permiso primero. Es todo el absolutamente confuso. ¿Con todo podría ser que la estructura relajada de la familia es la razón por la que la sociedad de Zo'e ha manejado sobrevivir para tan de largo sin leyes o líderes? El Zo'e vivo feliz con ni los dioses ni la religión. Las cosas pudieron haber permanecido la misma manera por siempre, pero hace algunos años el goverment decidía a que tuvo que ahorrar a esta gente pobre. Ella envió agentes del goverment a la aldea para ver qué podría ser hecha. Althought que ella significó bien, esta gente hizo más daño que bueno introduciendo los conceptos extranjeros como la religión y la autoridad así como la gripe, una enfermedad previamente desconocida que mató a 40 de los aldeanos. ¿Correcto interferir? En mi opinión, el goverment debe haber permitido que esta gente apacible viva sus vidas como ella ha hecho siempre, sin la ayuda de la sociedad "civilizada".
